Making the perfect cup of coffee is tricky! There are as many opinions as there are methods to achieving it. Unfortunately, delicate coffee aromas can be "burnt" in the water transfer process. In fact the optimum temperature for coffee making is just under boiling point so a new method was needed to avoid over heating the coffee grounds.

The Strix coffee maker does this by a clever valve system that drives off the steam and allows the coffee to infuse for just the right period of time in the funnel. We felt that the coffee maker should have a fun, quirky appearance making full use of colourful translucent polypropylene.

The motion of liquids and the infusion process are visible, a bit like a chemistry set. Once finished, the controller pod is simply detached so that the jug and funnel parts can go into the dishwasher... very handy.
